Welcome to Year 3.

PE kits need to be in school on Tuesday and Thursday. Spellings and Big Maths are tested on Friday.

Please read with your child for 10 mins every night. This is a big investment in their future. We aim to change reading books daily as they are finished.

Reading Festival

We have love the book. The children have designed sweets and pitched their  product to Mr Wonka. They have made sweets and sweet boxes and invented Road Dahl characters.

Autumn 2

We will be writing explanations of how recycling machines work over the next two weeks. Then we will be writing a news report related to Christmas.

We have been adding and subtracting numbers up to 3 digits and will soon be moving on to multiplication.and division.

Children need to continue learning their 2,5 and 10 times tables if they need to. We will practise, learn and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables. They will write and calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division using the multiplication tables that they know, including for two-digit numbers times one-digit numbers, using mental and progressing to formal written methods. They will solve problems, including missing number problems, involving multiplication and division.

Learning Challenge

Footprints in the Sand

This topic has led into investigating the footprint that we leave on the planet, environmental issues and recycled art.

We are finding out about different types of rock and soils, how they are formed and their uses.

Class Dojo

At Abingdon Primary we use Class Dojos which is embedded within every year group. This provides the children with an opportunity to earn points based on skills and values created in school and also links in with the schools core values of resilience, respect and responsibility. We use Class Dojos to engage parents by sharing photos and videos of exciting moments in the classroom. It is also an effective way for teachers and parents to communicate.
