Year 3/4 Owls
Welcome to Year 3/4 Owl’s class page!
Mrs Whitehead teaches Owls from Monday to Wednesday and Mrs Brett takes over on Thursday and Friday!
Our teaching assistants is Mrs Hanif and Mrs Caldwell. We are all really looking forward to welcoming you back and getting to know you all better.
We have an exciting, fun and engaging year ahead of us and we are looking forward to being apart of your child's learning journey. Please check in regularly to our blog to see some of the things we have been learning about.
Please follow our school twitter page @AbingdonPrimary to see updates of exciting things going on in our class. This is where you will find photos and videos of the lovely things your children are doing at school!
This term we will be having PE on Wednesday. Please can the children come to school in their kit in on those days. PE kit is white t-shirt and black shorts/leggings/tracksuit bottoms.Swimming is on Thursday. The children should come to school wearing their swimming costume/trunks under their uniform, and they need to bring their underwear and a towel in a bag. Long hair needs to be tied up or put in a swimming cap. Earrings MUST be taken out.
Our topic this Autumn Term is Eureka!
In the Spring we will be doing Globetrotters.
In the Summer it will be Tombraiders.
The children are expected to learn their times tables. We will help them do this in school but they are also expected to practise at home. They can use Times Table Rock Stars at home and in school to help them. Times tables are tested on Friday.
In school we will be teaching the children strategies to help them with spellings.
These are the spellings that the children are expected to read and write by the end of Year 4
The children will also be sent home a list of spellings to learn each week. Spelling test is on Monday.
Here are some useful websites that you can use with your child to support their learning and have fun together!
Modern Foreign Languages
This year we have a new programme to help us learn Spanish called Languagenut. It has lots of fun games and activities to play. So hopefully we'll be fluent by the end of the year!
We have many ways to reward the children in Owls:-
- Recognition Board
- Secret Student
- Postcards home
- Certificates in assembly
- Collecting pompoms for a class reward such as extra playtime, mindful colouring, free choice, games.
If you want to contact us, you can do so via dojo or email
We use Class Dojos to engage parents by sharing photos and videos of exciting moments in the classroom. Please sign up to class dojo if you haven’t yet as it is a really effective way for teachers and parents to communicate.
