Year 4 Kites

Class teacher : Mr Amesbury

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Hilditch and Mrs Caldwell

Important Notes for parents

This term we will be having PE on a Wednesday and swimming is on a Thursday. Please can the children come to school in their kit in on those days. PE kit is white t-shirt and black shorts/leggings/tracksuit bottoms. For swimming, girls need a one piece swimsuit and boys needs trunks or shorts (the more fitted the better for learning to swim). Long hair must be tied back wtih a bobble or in a swimming cap. For everyone's safety, goggles can only be warn on medical advice (a note from the dr would be required).

Creative Curriculum

At Abingdon we follow a creative curriculum. This is split into 2 cycles. Cycle A and Cycle B. Due to 3/4 Kites being a mixed age class coverage of the entire year 3 and 4 curriculum is met over a 2 year period through completion of the 2 cycles.

Below is an overview of the coverage in Cycle A

Times Tables

The children are expected to learn their times tables. We will help them do this in school but they are also expected to practise at home. They can use Times Table Rock Stars at home and in school to help them. Times tables are especially important for children in Year 4 as they will be completing the Multiplication Tables Check after May half term.

Year 3/4 Statutory Spellings

Below is a list of all spellings that all year 3/4 children should know how to read and write by the end of year 4. Please practice these where possible. All will be sent throughout the year as weekly spelling practice and repeated to store them to memory.
