Year 4 Owls 2020 - 2021

Year 4 Owls

Welcome to Year 4 Owl’s class page!

Mrs Whitehead teaches Owls from Monday to Thursday and Ms Flanders takes over on Friday! Our teaching assistants are Mrs Wood and Ms Murphy. We are all really looking forward to welcoming you back and getting to know you all better.

We have an exciting, fun and engaging year ahead of us and we are looking forward to being apart of your child's learning journey. Please check in regularly to our blog to see some of the things we have been learning about.

Please follow our school twitter page @AbingdonPrimary to see updates of exciting things going on in our class. This is where you will find photos and videos of the lovely things your children are doing at school!

PE

This term we will be having PE on Wednesday. Please can the children bring their kit in on Wednesday morning and take it home again in the afternoon.

We will also be going swimming on Thursday mornings in Grand Central swimming baths. The children need to come to school wearing their swimming trunks/costumes under their uniform. Girls shouldn't be in bikinis and boys should be in swimming trunks or tight shorts. Please tie up long hair. There should be no jewellery worn, so earrings must be taken out. The first swimming session is Thursday 17th September.

Topics

Our topic this Autumn Term is Stones 'n' Bones.

In the Spring it will be Mad as a Hatter.

And in the Summer we will be doing Extreme Earth.

Timestables

The children are expected to learn their timestables. We will help them do this in school but they are also expected to pracise at home. They can use Times Table Rock Stars at home and in school to help them.

Spellings

In school we will be teaching the children strategies to help them with spellings. They will also be sent home a list of spellings to learn.

Modern Foreign Languages

This year we have a new programme to help us learn Spanish called Languagenut.  It has lots of fun games and activities to play. So hopefully we'll be fluent by the end of the year!

Class Dojo
At Abingdon Primary we use Class Dojos which is embedded within every year group. This provides the children with an opportunity to earn points based on skills and values created in school and also links in with the schools core values of resilience, respect and responsibility. We use Class Dojos to engage parents by sharing photos and videos of exciting moments in the classroom.  Please sign up to class dojo if you haven’t yet as it is a really effective way for teachers and parents to communicate.
