At Abingdon, we have School Council made up children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The children who want to be part of the school council, write a 'manifesto' in September to explain why they would be a good member of the school council. All the children then go to the 'polls' to vote in their ideal candidate. We try to make the voting process as close to real life as we can to promote democracy.
The School Council are involved in fundraising events, making decisions for the school, pupil voice as well as taking part in learning walks around the classes to look at improvements that the children themselves can support.
