Important Notes for parents

PE will take place every Tuesday and Thursday for the Summer term. Please can you ensure they have their PE kit on when entering school every Tuesday and Thursday morning. PE kit must be a white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps/trainers. 

 

Creative Curriculum

At Abingdon we follow a creative curriculum. This is split into 2 cycles. Cycle A and Cycle B. Due to 3/4 Kites being a mixed age class coverage of the entire year 3 and 4 curriculum is met over a 2 year period through completion of the 2 cycles.

Autumn Topic

A focus on Ancient Greeks through inventions and ideas. A study of how the Ancient Greeks lived and what civilisation was like then. Links with the Olympics and also Ancient Greek artwork and pottery and the stories of the Greek Gods.

 

 

Spring Topic

GLOBETROTTERS

A comparison between a European Country (Spain) and our local area (Stockport). We study the city of Barcelona in depth in this topic. It also involves a study of geographical features as well as culture, food, sport and art looking at and using the work of Picasso and Dali. 

 

Summer Topic

 TOMB RAIDERS

A focus on Ancient Egypt and Egyptians, the geographical features of Egypt including a study of rivers and the use of the River Nile. A visit to Bolton Museum or Manchester Museum is also incorporated.

Year 3/4 Statutory Spellings

Rewards

In year 3/4 we opperate a whole class reward system, where as a whole we strive to earn an exciting reward. In our class we collect pom poms to fill a jar. Once full we enjoy a whole class reward together from our special wheel spinner, such as:

  • Baking
  • Movie and popcorn
  • Free fun time

Contact/Class Dojo

At Abingdon Primary we use Class Dojo which is embedded within every year group. We use Class Dojo to engage parents by sharing photos and videos of exciting moments in the classroom. It is also an effective way for teachers and parents to communicate.
