Pastoral Team and Inclusion

Mr Cumberbatch - Pastoral Manager

Hello my name is Mr Cumberbatch and I work with children and families to support their emotional wellbeing, keeping them safe, improving attendance and helping them flourish both socially and academically. At Abingdon we also work really closely with our families and if you require any additional support please feel free to get in contact with me on...

The Rainbow Room is a safe, calm space providing children with extra support in managing emotions and learning about life. In Rainbow Room we have a number of various staff who work together as part of the Pastoral and Inclusion team here at Abingdon.

Mrs Lamb - SENDCo and Attendance Lead

Hello, I am Mrs Lamb and I have been a teacher at Abingdon for 20 years now. I am based in our Rainbow Room in the afternoons.  I work with children either 1 to 1 or in small groups, looking at emotions, self esteem, anger management and managing feelings. I am also the attendance lead which means I monitor childrens attendance across the school.

We have a Morning Club in Rainbow Room where some children who are anxious about coming to school can have a calm, relaxed start to their day and a check-in with myself, Mrs Bertrand or Mr Wilcock.

I also work with parents. I run sessions called the My Child and Me Programme where parents will come in to work in Rainbow Room with their child, doing creative activities and spending quality time together. This year Mr Wilcock and I have been running a course for parents called Parenting Anxious Children which we hope to run again next year.

You can contact me on my email which is:

Mrs Bertrand - Learning Mentor

Mrs Bertrand works in Rainbow Room in the mornings as our Learning Mentor. She supports children with their learning across the curriculum and also works with indivdual children towards achieving their targets on their SEND plans.

Mr Wilcock - Lead Teacher for Culture and Behaviours

Hi, Im Mr Wilcock and I work with teachers, teaching assistants and lunchtime organisers in school to develop the positive learning atmosphere we are so proud of at Abingdon. I am really keen to build positive relationships throughout our school as we know this helps all of our children feel happy, make progress and dream big! I spend time observing lessons, coaching staff and suggesting resources, as well as delivering staff training on restorative approaches, supporting children with additional needs and Team Teach. Most of my work is with the staff team, but I also work with outside agencies such as Stockport Behaviour Support Service and use resources such as 'Red Card' to promote diversity and inclusion. I will also be getting to know some children and families, to ensure our work includes voices from the whole Abingdon community.

I work two days in school, so the best way to contact me is through the school office who can pass on a message or make sure someone from the Inclusion Team get back to you.

Mrs Caldwell - Seasons For Growth

Mrs Caldwell works in Rainbow Room on Fridays. She runs a programme called Seasons for Growth which helps children who have had a bereavement or loss.
